Project Description

Halifax Pop Explosion is near and dear to my heart. In my 20-year relationship with this city, I’ve seen hundreds of shows, danced my butt off to favourite local acts, and discovered artists I love to this day.

But in 2018, Pop Explosion faced an unprecedented backlash that lead to a discussion about what a music festival must do to create an inclusive and safe space for artists, volunteers, and audience members.

This piece looks at the steps Pop Explosion made approaching the 2019 festival, and highlights some don’t-miss acts.
